Recollective documented the unique collaboration between the African Arts Centre in Govan and Aberlour Youthpoint – Glasgow. Young people from Govan, including some at risk of isolation, offending and misusing drugs and alcohol, attended a series of art and storytelling workshops and a construction project at the African Arts Centre.
Recollective interviewed the adults involved in working with the young people; the youth workers doing the street work and running the youth clubs, Amu, the driving force behind the African Arts Centre. Most importantly, they interviewed the young people and documented through sketches, photographs and creative non-fiction their increasing confidence in their art and construction skills, and their hopes and dreams for the future.
